Only 8 Weeks Left Until World Laughter Day 2007. We Need Your Help!

Mark your agenda and prepare for a powerful World Laughter Day Celebration on 05/06/07 (Sunday May 06, 2007) in Los Angeles, California!

Over 1,000 are expected to attend this unique celebration of life through laughter. There will be powerful and spellbinding Taiko drummers, open laughter competitions for the prestigious awards of "2007 Best Laughing Man, Woman, Child and Senior in Los Angeles", and lots of informal entertainment (clowns, jugglers, face painting, musicians). This event is put together by the Laugh Angeles Foundation. Our motivation is to

• Raise awareness about Laughter Yoga and Laughter Clubs in Los Angeles and beyond.
• Fundraise to support our charitable activities of bringing more joy and laughter in the community (for those of you who don't know our mayor recently begged the federal government for a financial support in excess of $100 million to help him fight gang crime.)
• Create a successful working model for the World Laughter Day Celebration that others around the world can follow in years to come (2008 will be the 10th annual celebration of this event!)

Help us make this event a success! Everything we do is public domain and will be posted on our website + www.worldlaughterday.com once this event is over and our schedule lightens up.

Sponsor Us / Donate!

We are trying hard to make this event happen and need all the support we can get. The Laugh Angeles Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 Charitable organization. All donations are tax deductible in the USA.

This event will have high visibility. The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority agreed to sponsor us in kind and will promote this event in their monthly Metro News Brochure (50,000), email to selected subscribers (80,000) and as a link on their website (16 millions visits / month).

We are also staging a media campaign in English and Spanish with the local media (TV, Press, Radio).

We currently offer the following sponsorship opportunities:

Volunteer With Us

We are in dire need of the following support:

• Administrative Assistant: help us coordinate the logistics of putting this event together (coordinate volunteers support, equipment rentals, sponsors support). Do you have an eye for details, like working in a team and are experienced in using emails and computers (word processor + spreadsheet)? If so then this is the right volunteer position for you! Time commitment= 10h - 20h. Must have access to a telephone + email.
  
  
• Cameraman/woman: is making digital videos your passion? Come try your skills out! We will post all good videos on our website and give you full credit. Please contact us beforehand.
  
  
• Community Outreach: we want to contact and invite to this event 300 to 400 different organizations in Los Angeles that are potential clients for the Laugh Angeles Foundation. You must be well-spoken and have access to a telephone, email and fax. We already have material and data that you can work with. Time commitment: 10h to 20h
  
  
• Entertainer: Clowns, Jugglers, Face Painting, Musicians: help us entertain the kids and their parents! Time commitment: 2h on the day. Experience= if you can smile you can do it.
  
  
• Graphic Artist: help us create a professional program for this event. You be the eye, we'll give you the data. Time commitment= 10 hours
  
  
• Grant Writing: our services are unique and we know public money is available out there. How do we get it? You must be experienced in this field. Time commitment: you decide.
  
  
• Manpower: Greeters, Parking Attendants, Set-Up & Clean Up muscle power: Time commitment: 2h on the day. Experience= if you can smile you can do it.
  
  
• Massage Therapists / Energy Healers: you are welcome to come to this event and promote your business (or just share your love for humanity) by offering free sessions! All donations will go to support the Laugh Angeles Foundation.
  We will supply chairs for people to sit down. You must register with us beforehand.
  
  
• Photographer: can you take good pictures? We need someone we can rely on to cover this event. You must be experienced in this field and own a digital camera. You take good pictures, we'll post them on our website and give you full credit.
  
  
• P.R. & Media Person: write press releases and disseminate them with the Los Angeles Media. You must have experience in this field. We already have material and data that you can work with. Time commitment= 10 hours. Must have access to a telephone, email + fax.
  
  
• Sales & Marketing people: at this stage we are actively looking for financial sponsorship. Your help and support is greatly appreciated. You must have access to a telephone and email. Time commitment: 10h
  
  
• Webmaster: we have bought the domain name www.worldlaughterday.com. Our vision is to build a website there with (1) a turnkey method how to put a World Laughter Day event. Time allowing we would also like to include (2) a calendar of events of W.L.D. celebrations around the world, (3) a photo album and (4) a discussion forum. You must be experienced in coding in html and css. Php knowledge is ideal. Time commitment: you decide.

We Have A Shining New Website!

It is the most comprehensive resource on Laughter Yoga on the internet so far. Our goal is to create an online resource for anybody to visit to gain inspiration. Your help is most welcome!

The Laugh Angeles Foundation Needs A Logo!

Our mission statement is "to enhance personal health and to promote community well-being through the use of laughter and associated techniques." Laughter Session With Youth At Risk

The Ramona School For Girls in East Los Angeles asked us earlier on last month to come and lead a laughter session for their students and we gladly accepted. This is a high school for young women who have experienced serious challenges in life such as early pregnancy, difficulties with the law and the educational system, all type of abuse and the like. Their gym and half of the school campus is being destroyed and rebuilt by Metro as they are right on the alignment of the upcoming East Los Angeles Metro Railway line. The session was inspiring and very promising. They want more and the next step is on us. We need to raise $2500 to fund a weekly laughter session at this location throughout the school year.

New Laughter Club In East Los Angeles

The Laugh Angeles Foundation is proud to announce the birth of a new Laughter Club in East Los Angeles. HealthNet kindly agreed to let us use their community room on 3/8 and 3/22, 6-7pm, at the HealthNet Community Center, 5055 E. Whittier Blvd, East L.A., CA 90022. This is a trial and we will keep you posted on what happens next! The session will be led in both English and Spanish.

Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training Coming Up

When: Sat March 24 (9am - 5pm) - Sun March 25 (9am - 3pm)

The purpose of the experiential (and often life-transforming) Certified Laughter Yoga Leader training is to:

• Give you a thorough understanding of Laughter Yoga, and make sure that you are able to confidently talk about it and never run short of exercise ideas
• Help you how to add more laughter into your life by helping you understand the underlying principles of the "Inner Spirit Of Laughter"
• Show you how to release tension in a safe and positive manner
• Inspire and empower you to start and run a Laughter Club
• Teach you the skills and and give you the confidence to teach laughter yoga classes, both with the general public and special needs groups.

"Certified Laughter Yoga Leader" Certificate
This certification is for life. You will not need to pay us any fee to maintain it every year.

Comprehensive Laughter Yoga Training Manual
Your teacher Sebastien Gendry wrote the original Certified Laughter Yoga Leader training handbook that most Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers use worldwide, including Dr. Kataria. This was in 2005 and much has been added to it since then.

Laughter Tip Of The Month

Alien Lion Cow

[extract from the soon-to-be-released (major) update to Sebastien Gendry's popular ebook "From Zero To Laughter In 0.5 Seconds"]

Everyone in a circle. There are 3 things a participant can be:

An alien: hold you index fingers up next to your head, as little antenna’s and say ’Bleeb bleeb’, bending inwards into the circle;

A cow: bend forward, hold your right hand on your tummy fingers spread out and pointing down (that would be the udders) and your left index above your head (that would be the horns) and go ’Moooo’

A lion: push your right hand forward, imitating a claw and roar laughing, your tongue sticking as far out as you can.

On your sign, every participant decides to become one of the three.

Option 1: aim for everyone to become the same, which obviously won’t be the case the first time. Re-do this until everyone is in sync.

Option 2: have people regroup themselves with other fellow alien, cow or lion. The loudest group wins.
